Beresford SD | Mine uses 2 AA batteries. I use Nickel- Cad batteries that are rechargeable. Will stay up for almost a week when I am crop adjusting.
I just carry 4 battery charger with and always have a pair charged.
You can use regular AA non rechargeable also.
I think where megapix come into play is if you do really large pictures. 11" x8" is no problem at all with this camera. It is very good quality.
