Maybe you're definition of poor ventilation includes leaky windows but junk leaky windows can absolutely be the problem.

I lived in an old house with leaky 25-40 year old Anderson windows for many years.   The house was dry dry dry inside (static shocks and dry noses/throats all the time) but the leaky windows always had condensation on them.


IMO, both Pella and Anderson are over priced for what they are and the warranty isn't worth the paper its printed on.
