I wish it was as easy as "flipping the page and moving on".

Unfortunately, that is not the way it works for everyone though. We don't know enough about the OP to know whether toughing it out and relying on family and friends is enough.

Many people think it is a sign of weakness to get help. I think it is a sign of wisdom and strength to get help. Taking that step can be a hard decision -- for many people, it is easier to just trudge through life being miserable, rather than admitting that help may be necessary.

Worst-case-scenario, some time/money gets spent on professional help to get through something that the OP would have eventually gotten through on his own. However, there is also the chance that getting professional help will save him from months -- if not years -- of struggling just to get back to "normal".

The cost of some therapy is miniscule compared to the cost of lost productivity by someone suffering from depression.
