| Back during the 2014 farm bill push there was a lot of negative media about the commissions in the crop insurance market and the number I remember was 17%.
There have been some coops among farmers established in the past where someone gets all of the licensing to sell the insurance, the farmers pool together to form a business and make the licensed agent an employee of said business, and share the profit from the sales of the insurance they buy amongst themselves according to their agency ownership. Those arrangements have been frowned upon by RMA and it puts a target on their backs so you don't hear about those much anymore. | |
