Mid MO | No one was around until the other car ran up on me. They must have been flying. I turned off onto the gravel as soon as we were off the bridge.
If less than 30 seconds of driving behind me ruined their day, they are a delicate flower.
My kid loves boats, excavators, rail roads, etc. There's a sand plant, an iron rail road bridge, barges, tugs, and they're building a barge alongside the river. If delighting him costs me a cussing, it's well worth it.
Slowing down to accommodate another driver isn't the same as locking it up and praying that you get stopped in time. In the above example, it seemed like slowing down was what was needed. I wouldn't ever condone pulling out in front of anyone in a way that would cause a wreck.
I've got time to ease off and follow somebody. 2 minutes off my day isn't going to kill me, and if I'm cutting things that close, I should've left earlier anyway.
What's that saying? The guy I get behind is driving too slow. The guy who passes me is a maniac.
