You should look into lrp. I would recommend getting a agent from one of the western cattle ranching states. Or make sure you have someone that really knows the beef program. Since you are in Wisconsin a Dairy heavy area some guys focus on dairy and don't know the beef program well at all in my experience.

Its going to cost less than 60 dollars a head to get price protection on a 500lb calf out to January right now.

Should be a extra $500 per calf if you are getting average prices after the lrp cost is taken out. Will be even more if you are growing them heavier.
