NWMO | I’m not sure there’s a 100% right and 100% wrong way to look at it.
I think that what makes the most sense is cutting away fat on the farm and trying to get more out of what you have. If you farm 1500 acres and you have a 160 that is marginal and seems to do nothing besides pay for its inputs every year, then that would be a farm that I’d let go of and take the extra working capital and use it for other things.
Why put extra stress and expense into land that doesn’t make money? It’s a no win situation, no one thinks it’s cool to go to a farm auction of a guy who tried to farm 10000 acres of garbage ground and now is belly up because it was losing money, it’s still a farm auction and it’s still a bummer | |
