Brandon, MS | If the question is purely a 40D nail vs. a structural screw, then I'll suggest you use the screw.
#1 it ain't my money
#2 seems I drive 40D nails usually while I'm on a ladder, and it's not the easiest thing, especially on your left side
30D and above nails are about the only thing you can't power install anymore. Cordless impacts have become as common as hammers, with nail guns right behind.
Nails if the load is in shear. Screws if it's going to pull apart. Structural screws if it's going to do both. | |
