McCanna, ND | I haul a whopping 12 bales on our awkward size 36’ gooseneck because I don’t have the urge to destroy the pickup and trailer. Pickup gets 5.5-7mpg. Have a 53’ step deck with beaver tail/ramps and haul 32-37 depending on flat/round side out. Semi gets 5.5+mpgs hauling those loads and can actually stop if needed. I don’t even like using the gooseneck for anything anymore after getting the step deck. Can find a good steel step deck for $15-20k, glad I got a steel with wood deck and not aluminum or combination. | |
