Subject: RE: Pawpaw fruit

Pittsburg, Kansas

My wife said she just ended up eating them. No custard.

To me they remind me of an over ripe banana. At least when they are totally ripe. At a get together we sliced up a couple that were at different stages of ripeness. The first one was a little green but not enough to make your mouth pucker. It was sweet but not overly so and the flesh a little firmer. The second one was more ripe and was sweeter and a little more messy to eat or cut up. If my wife was forced to eat one it would be a somewhat green one. Same way with bananas for her. A really ripe banana the smell let alone the texture will almost make her sick to her stomach. Needless to say, she does not like pawpaw's at all. Although she did try a couple of small bites. She says to her it is a taste comingled with mostly banana with a little bit of papaya and mango mixed in.
