Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | It can work the other way too. I owned a couple lots in a 'town' near here. I say town, but its more of a shanty town, lots of trailers, lots of drugs, just a tough place. I got the lots as guy who used to work for us quit paying the taxes. We did, somehow I ended up with clear title. Worth maybe $500 a piece.
Got a letter from one of these outfits who figured, its land in California, in a town, $5000 must be a steal. I knew right away they hadn't done their homework, so I offered to sell at $7000. Nope, they were stuck on $5000. Went to the title company and everything, they paid. Never been so happy to get rid of something in my life. They immediately listed them for sale for some ridiculous price, couple hundred thousand. Last time I drove by the signs were falling down, and the lots were still empty of course. | |
