Subject: RE: Western Cornbelt drought

East Central South Dakota
can't believe how dry we are. Creeks flooded hard and potholes are full because all of that snow just ran off ponded or is down by St. Louis somewhere. Top 10-16 inches is moist and bone dry under that. No green grass and trees aren't budded yet. Still looks like fall. Tough conditions to start off with. Chance at warmth and moisture this weekend. Time to turn this baby around.

EDIT--- I am shocked and greatly disappointed in how little of the snow infiltrated the soil profile. I was guessing way more than made it in soil profile. Lot of guys said it would run off and they were right, and I was too optimistic.
