Subject: RE: Grain-fed vs. grass-fed beef

Barry County, MI
We have a lot of red clover in our pastures . We overseed or frost seed a couple lbs the red clover

in march every couple years. It gives us a nice mix with the grasses in our pastures..
The hay is pure alfalfa and a red clover try to get dry but we rapp it all
We use by carb as a couple years ago I put some fats in waist high red clover and lost one.
so another lesson. We dont do that any more We were on the upper edge quite often Im sure , ha ha.
We have around 70 head around most of the time.
It takes 16 to 18 months to finish most all calves ,
1200 to 1400 ,fat around the tail
Beef has good flavor and for most part tender.
Mostly fed, like we would feed a few calves back in the 50s and 60s in the hills
Just more soil balance and legumes in feed and roughage and by carb archie
