We feed them even longer than that, and we are buying milknreplacer even though we have waste milk. This is probably the most important growth stage, why limit it to save a few bucks.

To the OP...You can start them on starter right away. They won't eat much under a week old though. The quicker you get them on starter the quicker their guts can adapt to using solids as a feed source.
