IMO never too young on a bottle calf. When we have had bottle calves as soon as they are done with the bottle shove just a little creep feed in their mouth. A few days of that and they will look for it when they are done with the bottle.
+1 basically the way I did it but I always started them on pails with fingers the first feeding, just faster and easier in the long run IMO
