Have the feed, hay and water available immediately and the calf will naturally start eating solids as it grows has been my experience with Holstein and Jersey calves. And I don’t wean til 7 weeks when I start a calf. But I also hate starting calves like the plague so take my method for what it’s worth but it does make fancy calves.
