Leesburg, Ohio | By definition, a cooperative is simply a legal form of business that is owned by all it's members, instead of an individual (proprietorship), multiple individuals (partnership), or stockholders (corporation).
It has nothing to do with being a monopoly.
A monopoly is "the exclusive possession or control of the supply or trade in a commodity or service". Any form of business organization could be a monopoly. Being organized as a coop does not make a business a monopoly. | |
