I’ve planted a few acres behind a tractor that the tires weren’t spaced properly and was planting in the wheel tracks.
 With 18.4 tires in worked dirt, I wouldn’t do many acres without taking the time to move wheels if possible.  There was a major stand reduction in the rows planted in the wheel tracks.  

I suspect floater tires on firm no till ground would be much different.
