Wanted to start new thread to try a little poll:
How many guys run a planter that the seed opener follows in the tractor track?
I'm wondering if its really worth it to try to space my tractor tires to run inbetween the row?
I'm full no-till here so I know that makes a difference.
Tell me, have you seen a stand/yield reduction due to packed ground where the tractor runs?
You cannot plant contours, even 30" rows, without running in tire tracks. Is there yield loss, probably, I just never took the time to do checks in the fall years past. There's a fair number of 20" planters in this area, and they are all LSW's, and quite a few 30" ones also. We run 6 psi in ours, have 4 rows in tire track, could see the impact on hyd DF screen, but did not do yield checks on those rows. |
