My dad moved to the current farm in 1955. The OM matter was about 1.5% by the 80's it was about 3-3.5 %. continuous corn until the 90's. Pigs, dairy, cattle. We also plowed about every year and used extra fertilizer. Probably what you do not want to hear. But ask why do dogs bury bones and squirrels bury their nuts. But you probably agree with my cat who buries its poop.
