Subject: RE: Service work in Implement Dealer's Shop

Everytime this comes up on here it's all the same arguments. "You can't imagine what it costs to run the service department at a dealership" (overhead, overhead, overhead"

I work at a Tool and Die shop. Around 35 hourly employees(good not great benefits). 7 presses from 100 ton down to 300. 5 very large machining centers(CNC), 12 or so medium sized. Couple that with many more multiple large grinders prototrak(think bridgeport) mills, lathes, EDM's and so on. Just millions of dollars worth of equipment, that uses lots, and lots of juice for 2 shifts a day.

Our shop rate on time and materials jobs - $65. Just raised it from $60 about a year ago.
