Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | I've done both...bought older high houred tractors for a lot less money and newer low houred tractors for a lot more money. I think it comes down to this. You either pay more for repairs in a high houred machine and less depreciation or hopefully less repair cost with a newer machine but also more depreciation. I think in the long run it can be a wash. When I have bought a newer machine it's usually because I needed some features an older one didn't have.
I rented an 8,000 hour 8400 this spring for about 35 hours. The tractor was solid. I was quite impressed being a red guy. I wouldn't be afraid to own one. |
