Alton, Ia | We do an elcheapo combo system. We dump 130 F/ 17-18 MC into a storage bin. We shut the storage bin fan off during the night. If you watch EMC, usually from 10 p.m to 10 a.m or so, your air is more humid than 15%. During that time, the corn coming over steeps. Then we run fans during the day.
How many storage bins will you have? If > 1, I would alternate by filling each one for a day and then moving on. Leave the fan off for that day, let it steep, and then start the air. I would do that before building a separate bin for steepings. Augers = maintenance + replacement + energy use, if you can avoid transferring needlessly, I would. | |
