just a tish NE of central ND
#1, How does the grade system of chain work? GR...70 and/or 48 on the links , what does that stand for?How about the word "transport" In terms of chain strength? Which is the strongest?
#2, Is the 3/8th chain sufficent in most cases for the versy?
We tested a few chains here yesterday, some didnt last.
From what Ive seen in the local farm store, i remember that a 3/8th ,gr 70 chain is only rated at 5900 lbs strength? When you are pulling a stuck Versy out of the mud, you have over 20,000 in just the weight of the iron.
I like the chain because you throw it in the tool boxes or a 5 gallon pail and it goes with you easily. Cant do that with a cable.
