Subject: RE: Digital Cameras.......again.......please

Rich, what are you wanting to use it for?

For web shots like people post here, almost anything is adequate. Our first generation digital camera was a 320k pixal (that's like 0.32mpix) polaroid, and i still post pictures from it here from time to time when they are topical.

The 7520 and cultivator picture came from this camera. My current user is a 810kpix (0.81mpix) polaroid which came from a Head Start surplus auction for $20 or such. The 8850 picture came from this camera. It is better then you need for web shots. These two produce pictures of a size which can be posted on this site as they download, with no resizing required.

If you want to replace the "real" camera, get as high resolution as you can stomach the price for. K's is a 7.2 mpix and it has enough resolution for pretty much any size print you might want. She manages to take portraits of Ainsley which are as good as any professional would get. Granted, our photo technique is to put the camera on burst and fire away, hoping something turns out....but five minutes (about A's tolerance level for picture time) can easily produce a couple hundred exposures and that is almost always good for at least a half dozen that you can't help but love. The bullrider picture is from this camera. It has been resized pretty hard to fit here, original was about 2 megabytes.
