Subject: RE: road dust - calcium cloride or soybean oil

Major highway nearby is closed this summer as two bridges are replaced. Official detours are down paved roads. Unofficial detours have put a lot of traffic onto certain gravel roads. The state is reimbursing the county for dust control. I believe they are using magnesium chloride. It has both stabilized the gravel and reduced a very dangerous situation with dust. I'm certain that someone would have died if they had done nothing.

Other than issues like this, I agree that the county should not be paying for dust control. If you want a dust free environment, live on a paved road.
