Organic matter sitting in the top 2 inches of soil is good, but having organic matter mixed throughout the to 10-12 inches or more is even BETTER !! Soil needs to "breath" or have minute spaces between the particles and O.M. is great for that. I like having all the "tiny little stuff" you can't see alive an healthy in the soil.
I think it's working as in the last few years I'm constantly amazed at the amount of worms in the soil !!! | |
