Leesburg, Ohio | Did not really consider bi-fold...did not want to give up that much headroom...could have built the building taller, but why spend the extra $ just for wasted space for the door design (bifold or overhead) if not needed otherwise? Also, the Hydroswing is simpler, seals up better, and is less to go wrong, less maintenance.
We compared cost to commercial overhead doors. A 30'x15' overhead was around $10,000 at the time (2003). Any wider/taller was a huge price jump. The 34'x16' Hydroswing was around $6000. Have to add the cost of the skin and insulation to the Hydro, but it wasn't anywhere close to another $4k, and we got a bigger, better door.
We actually added a smaller 14x14 overhead door to the building that we didn't have in the original plan, and still spent less total $ than the original price for the single 30' overhead. I'm glad we added the second door (it's near the back of the building on a side wall) but we have had more issues with the little overhead than with the big Hydroswing, and we lose more heat around it than the big door. | |
