Southeast MN | Same thing here in 3rd year notill corn on corn, the stalks and residue are almost knee deep between the rows, just like we used to bed the springing heifer pen in the old days. I'm debating between beans in that field for 2010 or a match, not sure what will loose me less money. The good thing,I think, is the soil smells very good. Just hope the bacteria and other critters get along with the corn.
I like to leave the stalks standing/anchored as it helps the trash flow through the planter. Loran's roller idea/patent has given me something more to think about.
