Subject: RE: 4455 vs 77/7800

Saronville NE
I would lean towards the 7800, but would go with the power quad, bullet proof tractor then. Have ran both and have a neighbor that used to work for parttime during calving and they have one of both, both with mfwd and loaders. The 7800 has 14k hrs and finally went inot the tranny at 12k hrs and it gets used hard. The 4455 has 8k hrs and has been OHd allready, its an allright tractor, but the turning radius sucks compared to the 7800. 7800 has nicer cab and more shoulder friendly hyd levers. Have had my fill of 50-55 series deere tractors, trannys are VERY pricey to go into and have ben into them allready, you just dont here about that with the newer tractors as much even with higher hrs. The 19 sp PS is jerky in the 7800, 15 sp is pry smoother in the 55. Ive notied the same thing price wise and I would definetely go with a 7800 if it was me. A 7700 wont keep up with a 4455, but the 7800 would be more comparable. 7700 would be more like 4255. Thats my opinion after running both. Good luck and happy shopping.
