Subject: RE: 4455 vs 77/7800

Culbertson, MT
We went from a 4450 (mfwd, ps) to a 7800 (mfwd, pq) several years back. We were well pleased with the 4450 except for the front end- kingpin trouble. 8xxx hrs and no oil consumption at 150 hour oil changes. We went with the 7800 pq as the powershift tractor we tried out seemed very "lurchy" compared to the 15 spd. So far, I have been pleased with the 7800. It has always used a bit of oil between changes but nothing major. No major mechanical failures yet, at 8300 hrs. Cab is nice and roomy, a/c sometimes has a little trouble keeping up. The electronics were a worry but nothing so far. I don't think you'd go wrong with a 7800, nor would I pass a good 4455 either.
