SE PA | Not sure what you wanna cut, but the 1499 has widers rolls that the 116, right? Also no auger in the 499 - the reel does the work, and those bearings can be a pain - if it's wet when you cut, either rain or dew, the water will destroy the bearings - solution is to add grease zerks to each reel bearing, and grease the crap out of them every 10-20hrs. The whole machine doesn't cut very well when it's wet - the reel just doesn't have the strength to pull the crop off of the knives. If you cut alfalfa in the middle of the afternoon it'll cut likea hot knife through butter, but if you're trying to cut wet grass right after a rain or heavy dew...... you'll have wished you got a disc machine.
