Coon Rapids,Iowa | I used a 499 for years. It is a good machine, but like the previous post does not work good in tall grass.
Also when wet, reel can plug up & be a bear to unplug. I know you said you aren't interested in a disc mower, but I purchased a used NH 1431 & would never go back to a sickle type. I know it costs more, but is well worth the time saved & frustration from unplugging the reel. Good Luck in your decision.
