The difference between a 499 and a 116 is that the 499 doesn't have an auger. It uses the reel to propel the hay into the conditioning rolls. In my opinion, this allows for a much more even flow of hay into the rolls giving you a better job of crimping. You also don't have to deal with unplugging an auger. The 499 cuts a 12 foot swath and in our situation that smaller cutting width allows the windrow to dry a little quicker especially when the crop is heavy. We currently run 4 of them and have had very good luck with them.
