Alton, Ia | The size of the tank has no bearing on the back pressure to the pump, all that matters is how high the liquid has to go. If you pump it up a load stand or up your gooseneck pipe, 100% of the time you have the max height as back pressure. If you pump it into the tank directly, your avg pressure is 50% of the depth, (plus how high the tank bottom is off the ground, which hopefully is constant, unless you don't do the rock :) )
What you are stating is a common misperception, but it is part of the basis behind why the little dutch boy saved the village back when............
