To make a long story short I'm between a rock and a hard place.
It started last Wednesday when I took the wife's Chevy Blazer in to have intake manifold gaskets replaced cause they started to leak. So after 350 bucks spent the miss and I did some shopping Thursday and it ran good no problem. Now this morning I started it up and immediately has very bad lifter clatter more than one I think are bad and have not had this problem before. So after talking with my mechanic today confirmed it now needs lifters 500-600 dollars estimate.
Question.. when a lifter is bad do they get progressively worse or immediate like what I having
Where it gets difficult is I rent his (the shop owners) farm and don't want to wreck that relationship it is very good presently. Iv' e been wondering all day if something intential was done to cause this or coincidence.

Any ideas how to handle this situation? thanks
