Subject: RE: Pros and cons of front mounted spray booms

West Texas

Ron, I ran drops on the rear boom sprayer at 2-3" from he top of the crop. Mostly peanuts so that would make it 6" off the ground. At 10 mile an hr with 90 ft booms. And the ground is slightly rolling hills with a fairly steep one every once in a while.

Only recall once that I hit ground and broke a drop. Cultivator guy had left a BIG pile of dirt from it balling up. I didn't see it in time and got into it.

Back then there were no charcoal filters when I ran the Hagie. And spraying the sweet corn over the top for worms. Had to be sprayed every other day.250 acre total. I sprayed that stuff every day all summer. Doctor told me to stay out as that's what caused it. Chem has been taken off the market.

As for the cotton, it's a boll opener. Every acre of our cotton and most everybody elses cotton gets it put on. Bout the only way to get them open without a hard freeze, and if we were to wait on a hard freeze we'd loose over 50 % of our cotton.
