We use bird shot in a 22 smooth bore rifle, even against aluminum roofs at a distance of 20 feet. Gotta watch those CCI rounds. They don't have the spread pattern of other brands of shot shells. Foud out the hard way. Check your pattern on cardboard. Try to get the brass ones with crimped ends. Don't remember the brand. Last ones I bought at gun show.
We also use Avitrol. Bought ours at local co-op. Don't remember if we needed any license to purchase it.
Mix 1 part Avitrol to 10 parts cracked corn. Don't need to kill all of them. Those birds in distress will cause the others to leave.
