We need to take a semi trailer to Mt Pleasant, Texas from Iowa........but effectively from Kansas City, since all routes would go thru KC.

Map software is sending us by two different routes...........

To Kansas City...........and then south on 71 to I-44, then west to 69, and south on 271.

To kansas City...........and then south on I-35 to 59 to 169 to Tulsa, and then south on 75 and 62 to 271.

Any comments about which route would be better for a truck?

Quite some time back it seems to me that we contemplated a similar trip, and that the consensus was to stay out of Missouri.........ie avoid 71..........but cannot remember for sure.
