I have hauled grain for 9 years with a Timpte 66x96x48 ft spead trailer. I was able to haul 29.5 ton of sbm with no problems. On a 40-42 ft trailer, you should be able tio get a legal load with no problems. I once winrowed my trailer w/ heavy wheat and grossed over 115k! Oops!! But i agree, would rather go 72 than 102. Remember, taller and wider equals more emepty weight.
