Kind of like "priming tobacco" vs "plucking tobacco" vs "picking tobacco" vs "harvesting tobacco" - depends on who you talk to. We used priming to denote hand harvesting and harvesting to differentiate hand from mechanical means of "getting the leaves in." As long as it gets in the barn doesn't really matter what you call it - but it does make for some regional diversity and a way to figure out from what area a person grew up in.


Here, we "chop tobbaco" with hatchets. Well, except for shadegrown, I think that is picked.
