| First I ground the edge of the auger flat to give it a sharp edge. It was smoother on the right side (bunching side) than on the left side. This helped. Next I looked into the side fingers noted in an earlier post and the local cih dealer didn't stock them, but he did have a grain grabber kit. I installed 2 on the right side and one on the left end. This seemed to help, but after dark and once it got damp the beans got tough enough that they were hard to thresh and it would bunch once in while even with the grain grabbers - basically time to stop.
I think it's good enough to finish the season on, but I'm still interested the reel end tines. Also, my 1020 already has the fingers down near the dividers.

PS: as far as my opinion of the grain grabbers goes - they help and certainly don't hurt, probably not as good as a full finger auger, but cheaper. I would not say they solve all feeding problems, but they are helping me feed 4' tall beans better. | |
