I don't want to start a color war here, but unbiaised tests have proven Fendt's CVT Vario gear shift to be the most efficient on the market. It can now be found on NH and MF too ...

For bringing the poneys to the ground, as e_student said, they have to be extra balasted and most are fitted with a front 3 point hitch but not only for that purpose, as a front PTO comes with it very often (ask dutch for some experience on front operated machines )....

When comparing a Fendt to a JD 8XXX as Gerard did, you have to bear in mind that JD's 8xxx series weigh more than the Fendt from startup, and most often carry extra weights in the wheels or have brass rims to give the extra weight.

On the other hand, being lightweighted, the Fendt does a good job for spring field prep when you don't want much compaction but need power though.

What I like too is the generously dimensioned front wheel, but to really get the poneys to the ground you have to mount broad tires too or go dualling or even both.

Anyway, these tractors are very popular in Germany (since they are made there ;) ) but also in Holland because of their versatility.
