We have seeded soys in southern Mb. for 10 or 15 years .Our varieties need a minimum of 200000 ppa to have agood yield potential .This is when ussing air seeder.You shoudn't have much trouble with spliting unless the seed is very dry @10% or so.As far as canola stubble is concerned the soybean can get scleroinia but isn,t a normal concern. Blacker ground will warm up faster which is important in our northern climate.
