Lime goes one way and one way only and thats down. Lime will never move up into soil. I remember when people used to always plow it after we spread then we learned or were taught that it is better to put 2 ton at a time on top until ph levels are reached but as the poster above said we have put up to 6 ton on when someone wanted it with no ill effects have ever showed up. I've never saw where the piles were dumped ever be a problem and there no telling how many ton per ac there.
