Most of ours needs 1 ton, with a few acres 1.25-1.5 tons. A few more acres we've already sown in wheat, so it will wait a while for the ground to firm up. We have broadcast in standing wheat a time or two before, but the ground is soft enough now that the spreader would leave some pretty good ruts.
