Lawrenceville, IL | with today's technol. GPS grids are highly repeatable, and as long as you do them on 2-2.5 A, etc. grids you are going to hit the variable soil types. if not, you have to take into account that most VRT rigs out ther don't vary the rete that quickly.
now i do agree that with the ability to overlay soil type is beneficial in making reccomendation, based on yield potential, fetility, build up , etc.
then, adding yield data adds a whole new variable that is equally important to the soil data itself. just think, you can make a rec. from yield data only, but without taking into consideration the soil test levels, on a high yield crop you'd apply a large amount of fertilizer to areas that may already be high in fert. at the same time without yield data you may apply fert. to attempt to build a typically low yielding area of the field. | |
