Ashburn, GA, (very close to Heaven!)

autopilot_tweeker - 10/23/2008 15:54 .... I guess my point is, lets let farmers be farmers. I believe agronomic consulting should be an ongoing conversation between consultant and client in order to help the farm succeed. I think LHaag is correct saying that it is important for the grower to understand and agree with the prescriptions being prescribed. To answer the original question, I believe a professional offers a farm a different perspective and can guide a farm to being more productive because they aren't being influenced by any other factors in making their prescriptions. In the end it is up to the farmer to apply the prescriptions (and circumstantually modify them).

I couldn't agree more! What does a farmer need? Does he need "fill in the blank" soil sample results and recommendations from a lab? NO, he needs to maximize his fertility inputs for optimum crop returns! This is indeed where a professional agronomist can help.

Now, does a farmer need a GIS specialist? Is it as simple as import and export? No, it's not.

A professional precision ag consultant is fluent in both areas, and brings training and experience to the picture. Even an above average farmer can benefit from using a professional to help.

DISCLAIMER: I have professional interests in these areas, but am not coming to Nebraska to pull soil samples.
