Central Illinois
We also went from a 9600 to a 01 9650. I think it is twice the machine in beans. We run a 930 on it that was also on the 9600. It's great that your running 3.5 in beans with the 9600 but we sure couldn't, especially in green stems. No problem with the rotor to run 3.5 or 4.0+ if the head will cut them.

As for corn it also has more capacity with a better sample. The capacity here isn't as noticable in my opinion. But I have a friend that was a tech rep for Deere Harvestor and he says with a new 600 series corn head that a 9650 should be capable of in excess of 3500bu/hr with little loss--don't see how this is physically possible but it was his story.

9600 is a fine machine but you will think a whole lot more of the 9650 IMO
