Subject: RE: Looking at 9650 STS for next year

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I went from a 9500 to a 2002 9650STS about 3 years ago. Mine came from a very good home and I have been happy with it.

There is a serial number break where some nice changes were made and mine is before that break. A 2001 would be pretty much like mine I would guess.

There were a few factory mods which I believe mine had done.

I traded heads and combines at the same time to avoid the drive change game. The 9500 used the wraparound double roller chain whereas the 9650 used the PTO type shafts. It would have been possible to have adapted my old heads but it was just easier to trade them all at the same time.

That way my old "set" stayed together for the next owner.

I had heard the horror stories about setting the STS and grain loss but have not found either to be a problem.
